Disclosures.

How Cannabest is funded, the commercial relationship with Heady, and how disclosure is enforced in code.

Cannabest is owned by Heady, a cannabis marketing agency. Some of Heady's clients appear in this directory. This page explains that relationship and what we do about it. Last updated: August 3, 2026.

The relationship

Cannabest is owned and operated by Heady, an agency that provides marketing services to cannabis dispensaries and brands. That means the company that publishes this directory earns money from businesses that appear in it.

We are telling you this on a dedicated page, in our methodology, and on every individual page where a client appears, because a conflict of interest you find out about from someone else is a scandal, and one you are told about plainly is just a fact you can weigh.

Why we include clients rather than excluding them

The obvious way to avoid the conflict would be to leave Heady clients out of the directory entirely. We considered it and rejected it, for a reason we think holds up: a Colorado dispensary directory that silently omits certain licensed dispensaries is a broken directory. Someone searching for stores near them would get an incomplete answer with no indication anything was missing. Excluding clients would not make us more honest, it would make us less accurate while looking more virtuous.

So clients are included on exactly the same basis as everyone else, and the relationship is disclosed everywhere it exists.

How disclosure actually works here

Disclosure on Cannabest is automatic, not discretionary. Entities with a commercial relationship to Heady are flagged in our database, and the page template renders a disclosure notice whenever it encounters a flagged entity. No editor decides whether a given page gets one, and no editor can suppress one. It is enforced in code.

If you ever find a page featuring a Heady client without a disclosure notice, that is a bug and a serious one. Please tell us: see Corrections.

What the relationship does not affect

  • Inclusion. Every licensed dispensary in a market we cover is listed, client or not.
  • Ordering. Directory listings are ordered by the criteria stated on each page, never by commercial relationship.
  • Data. Prices, availability, and verification dates come from the same daily ingestion for every entity. We do not refresh a client's data more often or present it more favorably.
  • Removal. No one can pay to be removed from the directory or to have unflattering factual information taken down. Factual errors get corrected; accurate facts stay.

Other commercial arrangements

Advertising. Cannabest does not currently sell advertising. If that changes, paid placements will be visually distinct, labeled as advertising, excluded from any ranking or ordering logic, and disclosed here.

Affiliate revenue. We do not currently earn commission on any transaction. We do not sell cannabis and we do not process orders.

Samples and comped products. We do not currently publish product reviews. When we do, any product provided free by a brand will be disclosed on the review itself, and receiving a sample will never be a condition of coverage.

Paid inclusion or ranking. Never, under any structure or label. This is the one commitment we would not trade for revenue, because it is the only thing that makes the rest of the site worth reading.
